When it comes to artificial intelligence, what are we actually creating? Even those closest to its development struggle to describe exactly where things are going, says Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleiman, one of the primary architects of the AI models many of us use today. It offers an honest and compelling new vision of the future of AI, offering a compelling metaphor—a new digital look—to focus attention on this extraordinary moment. 1. T=9:35 infinitely knowlegdgeable is said. That's a problem. We don't have that much quality data i think. Those take time to collect. By humans and later on independant probe taking technology. F.e. ; he speaks of a digital species. How much we don't know yet about organic species . The AI becomes maybe better , but what about the data it runs on so to say. That's a bottleneck i suppose. We barely know 1 out of 10 (?) species in a litre of seawater. We still need slow defenition and descision processes by humans i think. If we leave descisionmaking and make things autonomous it will make our human pace disappear. And we will loose something. Or we simply wont be able to keep up with it. Unless maybe transhuman way. Hooked up to nonliving material. An extra layer on top of our braincortex maybe would have us keep up with exponential development.
Or one part of humanity chooses ór is forced to go with or against development. I wonder still about the speed of this new species' development and adaptation to us.

  2. Imo anything that is AI generated should be labeled because we all have a right to know that the article, video, artwork, etc. was not created by a human. A lot of people will lose their jobs because of AI. I would feel bad for anyone who lost their income but I would especially feel bad for anyone who lost a job or career that actually gave them a sense of purpose and fulfillment.

  3. Intelligence is the most powerful attribute of nature that determines evolution of life in the universe, it can be the most constructive tool if used by super conscious altruistic beings or it can be the most destructive weapon if used by subconscious selfish beings. As we are about to pass on this natural gift of intelligence to machines and with the imminent rise of AGI, the ultimate question we have to ask ourselves is what kind of beings we want to be living with and how do we make sure that the sentient machines will be altruistic and not selfish beings? This answer alone will determine the future of humanity.

  4. Wow, what a fascinating TED talk, His insights on AI are thought-provoking. It's incredible to see how AI is evolving to tackle complex tasks. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

  5. AI can never be mistaken for human, or it should always be treated as the super-psychopath in the room. It is completely incapable of feeling empathy or pain. These are complex fundamentally biological abilities that we still don't fully understand. We interface with our pets every day, mostly with minimal understanding of the black box their organic brains and bodies are to us. Yet, they are living breathing creatures capable of feeling real affection and real pain. Program and tend the data you feed the AI. Love and mantain a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for your pet. Both have the potential to cause harm. Both are "black boxes" of behavior. Both have the potential to benefit us. But only one of them is a true companion capable of feeling fear and pain and hard-wired to avoid it. And neither should be confused with or equated to a human being.

  6. AI having human agency IS the problem because even if you create 'boundaries' some AI will break the rules just like humans do. The prize will be the end of humanity.

  7. Suleyman states that AI has or will have perfect IQ — whatever that means. He also argues that AI has EQ. It doesnt: AI can simulate EQ. Suleyman states that we must put the best of being human into developing AI, qualities that he summarizes as "empathy, kindness, curiosity, and creativity." These are the qualities that AI does not and cannot have. Simulation is not realization. No serious argument has been offered that AI has emotions, yet that appears to be one of Suleyman's assumptions.

  8. We have to be careful to not evolve in a way where we want relationships replaced by artificial / digital humans… I liked his presentation and I get the point, but I think that is one of the biggest dangers. We are entering an era where people are having digital boyfriends and girlfriends, and that just cannot be good.

  9. Why would someone be excited of an invention that plans to replace workers, it’s an invention that wants to seem that’s doing good for people, not everyone on earth is creative or interested in tech, it’s made for one particular class and it’s not the majority of people. People need to start raising their voices.

  10. It means losing jobs, it means more wealthy people, it means an end to the middle class, it means a lot of things and most of it isn’t good, stupid creation that’s made for the wealthy. And the wealthy only. Why do we need self driving cars, millions make a living out of it, why take it away so companies In tech squeeze money from you.

  11. NO ,ot Isnt " fundementally differrent " than Anything that has come before : It is just advanced Predictive Programming ; but Govermment ,and World Economy ,Forcing Us to live under it ,: ohh Yes , Driving Cars into pedestrian s ,? Still ? WE , dont have a choice

  12. We have far to many that don't even know how to be good human beings in this world. Can we take some of the $ on this & transfer it to that. Since I often have to dumb it down & use analogies think of it the same way as premature e jaculation at this point. Others might be getting off & paying for it but the majority are left unsatisfied. As it is we can't even have safe rules laws & regulations for/on tech. They've been making their own so same will be for AI. Do we really want that. As with the analogy slow & steady together is more satisfying to all. Only selfish people only care about themselves. All the people you mentioned being in the pocket how is that going to help people & those jobs. Don't put the cart before the horse well need infrastructure also. The majority of people are really sick & disgusted with what tech & the overlords have already done & want out of techdom. Sure in some areas it can be good but unleashing a behemoth at such a fast pace I don't think it is wise. If I was raising small children now I would still want them to learn grow, problem solve, learn critical thinking etc on their own & human experiencial way. As with everything one can use it for good or bad the reason we have laws & rules. So many children are getting hurt on tech as it is. Let them learn to be good human beings
