  1. AI is as good or bad as the people that train it. They are in no way balanced and objective. You don't seem to understand this.
The people that use it are a secondary concern.

  2. Great job approaching the subject of AI, Brian.

I have kept myself from using AI chatboxes out of a old school sense of superiority. However, seeing someone that I respect intelligently and constructively use AI chatboxes has changed my mind. Clearly, they are something which have tremendous potential and if we won't use them, someone else will.

  3. I use every day, few dozen questions per day. Does not work 100% of the time. It sometimes does not understand, but rarely. Sometimes it answers incorrectly, like big time. Like totally wrong. So beware.

  4. There is very little 'intelligence' in the current artificial intelligent (AI) chatbots.
They are basically just a result of gradual improvements in *natural language processing*.
By that I mean they are able to understand your questions in natural language, not just as a string of commands; they are able to break the prose on webpages down to data nuggets for copy & paste; and they are able to present the answer in a natural way like how a live person will speak to you.
The data has always been there. On the web. The chatbots are in effect next-level search engines.
The recent availability of such chatbots & the subsequent explosion in surrounding interest came about because (1) they needed to greatly expand the sample size than in the lab to refine the natural language processing, and (2) it would suck in money from around the world into windfalls for Wall Street & related IT parties.
Intelligence (simplified) is the ability to choose the right course of action (not just show you the possible alternatives) or advice you on one. Current technology cannot do that. It can show you how to win a chess game because it's a "closed environment" with definitive moves & outcomes, but almost everything else it's just about gathering available data and calculating probabilities.
It cannot be intelligent enough in any real life situations as long as there are human unpredictabilities & subsequent infinite possible outcomes.
It can do no better than a team of dedicated researchers & analysts with sharp objective thinking. Its only advantages are speed & absence of human error.
For the average Joe, though, those AI chatbots could be a blessing because we could afford neither researchers nor analysts (that's why people watch your videos 😉).
You are right, Brian, warning people to be wary of them & always remember they are just tools.
The current situation is just like any social platform or app or, for that matter, modern business venture: everyone is trying to secure as many users as possible to get the biggest market share, to forge trust in using them so one day they would rely on the chatbots instead of their own thinking, then… then… they can start manipulating behind the scene, not unlike how search engines manipulate search results right now.

  5. Good video and appreciate the overview. But having given Gemini a try it doesn't do very well on prompts for information on the assault on Gaza or the history of the occupation.

"If you'd like up-to-date information, try using Google search."

Like any tool, it has its limitations. But no matter how I try, it will not answer prompts regarding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

  6. I've been using ChatGPT for several months now. I'm paying $20 per month
and up to now I've mostly used it in regards to work related matters. It has
helped me to clarify my thinking and polish my correspondence with my
    employer.

I start by providing as much background information as possible and proceed
from there to ask it to generate documents that reflect my objectives. I find
that it's an iterative process that works best for me and I have been very
    happy with the results.

Without a doubt it helps me to avoid missing important things that I
    might otherwise have missed.

Fortunately I have the background and experience needed to generate
appropriate prompts and get the results I need buy I seriously doubt
that the "average" man or woman on the street will be able to use
it effectively. In other words: "garbage in garbage out" which is nothing
new of course. The more things change the more they remain the same.

  7. This was all very informative and entertaining. I have always enjoyed advancements in technology, and I must say that the first thing I thought I had when I read about ChatGPT was: military. As noted here, to use it wisely or safely, we underlings must ask specific questions, so it is perfect for robotic military purposes where the only goal is to shoot and not be shot. I think in time (or even now) a more advanced ChatGPT will be devised and we underlings will toy and toil with versions less…. dangerous.

  8. Brian, An extremely valuable approach for sourcing info is to utilize a persona technique. Let’s take your medicine and public health topic. Say to the AI: “You are an expert in public health, medicine, open source advocacy, academic research, scientific publishing, etc. etc.” …”Explain to me (whatever your query is about)…” or, “Discuss public healthcare (blah, blah, blah) … Help me explore the nature of open source healthcare resources (blah, blah, blah).

This is a pathetic attempt to illustrate the technique but you get the idea.

  9. AI is torturing me on my phone. Although I blocked the phone number, they have managed to repetitively called me over 20 times! I have no idea what "Madison" represents or wants. After several calls, Madison informed me that she is an "AI assisted representative", but not of what entity. When I ask questions she repetitively calls and informs me that she "cannot assist with my request"!

  10. Thank you for doing this demonstration. It's good to see it from your perspective. Good luck with your hydroponic system. 🌱🪴🍀🌾🌳🌺🌿
I share your videos on Telegram and Truth Social.

  11. 4chan people have shredded AI by asking it awkward questions to do with racial differences and have revealed AI to be woke programmed nonsense.
I cannot detail the answers because Youtube would shadow ban my post

  12. Thank you for the program on AI. I invented my own version of solitaire, and asked Google Gemini for an algorithm to generate a unique shuffle of a deck of cards for a given game number and it came up with two ways to tackle the problem, Wonderful! Now I can go ahead writing the source code.
