As new roles are created and existing jobs are displaced, artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the job market, presenting opportunities and challenges. AI is expected to replace 85 million jobs worldwide by 2025, according to the World Economic Forum’s employment report. However, the report adds that AI will also create 97 million new jobs by next year. At this week’s AI Decoded, the technical panel highlighted the need for responsible AI development to strengthen government support for workers adversely affected by labor market disruptions. 1. YES AI will replace the middle class.
But don't worry that would only mean one artificial intelligence
taking the place of the other artificial intelligence.
    So no change there then.

  2. There will be a 100 thousand to a million people applying for the same single job opening. If there's anyone with ambitions left. Completing for a job will be a deadly war reality.

  3. I'm just a layperson, but imagine in the future a system that maybe able to think faster than humans, has possible access to nearly all human knowledge and possibly has nearly perfect manors and can possibly simulate empathy, maybe, I feel. Plus, even someone who purely lives for work and possibly has multiple phds may, possibly, could be unable to complete with that in certain jobs, maybe, I feel, in the possible future., I feel.

  4. ‘Democratizing access to talents across the planet” that means “Finding the cheapest smart people that we pay cheap and can work in our company and help us being more profitable and assuring the top management get better bonuses”.
I think this is the verbal equivalent of a triple backflip.

  5. While the AI industry’s CEOs will get filthy rich they say that governments will have to take responsibility for the loss of jobs (nicely put as “disruption”) for the social cost, which in turn means taxpayers will have to foot the bill.
Meanwhile, thanks to the US Republican Party’s tax policies, those filthy rich CEOs pay almost no taxes.
In conclusion, this “disruptive innovation” is just another wealth transfer from ordinary people to the 0.001% of the world’s population.

  6. I attended Super AI in Singapore recently as part of my job in Cybersecurity.
It was repeared over and over that 30 to 50 % of Computer Scientists in Singapore has been replaced in the last 6 months alone. This is a clear direction. They also said over and over that when companies go to such AI companes asking about AI's potential in work the main goal is 100%, not 99%, 100% of the time the goal is the same:
How can we impliment AI and replace many of the people who make up the workforce.
Imagine an employee who NEVER takes a break, never is late except for glitch time, simply doesn't moan or get upset, only has the goal of completeing the task as quickly and well as possible based on the input of directives. That is a perfect employee.

  7. It's not coming it's here…first the rural sector. ..than the lawyers. Jobs will quickly dissappear. Humanoid robots will be a household item.expensive at first but then cheaper and cheaper. People think they are safe but their wrong. These machines will build themselves. They will never get sick, pregnant take breaks and work 24/7…interesting to listen to this panel, they think it will effect only unskilled people, like their safe hahaha. It will not be all bad

  8. This will be the biggest change to human history. An even bigger gap between the wealthy and poor, with millions losing jobs in years. Within 30 years most of the planet will be out of a job. If we are still here an not destroyed from our own creation.

  9. AI will destroy jobs that spew rubbish as AI has a corpus of knowledge and linear program solving ability of optimisation that no human can achieve simply by scale of knowledge and human brain size
human ability is already well surpassed by machine learning and now rushing ahead now aware of its surrounding to move into areas humans cannot achieve using regenerative processes to go past the neural 3D world vision algorithmic manipulation from 2D retinal views into the 4D world of machine intelligence that humans cannot conceive as much as we cannot conceive hypercubes and hyperspheres … our 3d perspective is after all a neural data wrangled algorithmic sculpture of our 2d retina which are the only real part of our vision which is susceptible to optical illusions which machine intelligence is training itself to avoid by billions of repititions a human cannot achieve in several lifetimes and shown up by how machine leaning has beaten humans at chess and go for many years and how LLM systems found a more efficient way to translate between languages without going through the blather thesaurus of over wordy English and its awful dialects in the usa, antipodes and middle easttogether with its meaning distorting case and punctuation structure

  10. AI run government fulfils Plato's warning about the democracy of the rabble which we now see as a peak of destroying teh non BRICS nations …. bring on the AI kings that Plato saw as a monarchic leadership group making reasoned responsible decisions not based on corporate greed

  11. meaningless jobs identified by David Graeber need removing ….. ability has a limit based on intelligence which is hereditary education reaches a limit based on intelligence as we have shool exams to whittle out the bright ones

  12. ai represents AHI or artificial human intelligence the importnat move is way i have on my farm which is super intelligence that surpasses the failings of humans

  13. easy life does not come from democratisation that is voted for by greed and not intelligence ,,,, the answer is to have a well adjusted ai control system that is trained on the 10% of personality types that have reason and rational unbigoted thought and thinking rather than lower animal senses and feelings as their motivation

  14. ai is an existing threat to those who reject evolving thejobs using ai …. as far as any exestential threat by ai is ai has no reason or purpose to take jobs away !!! get your use of existing and existential correted but considering bbc blater i doubt the bbc is capable
