Can AI help us answer life’s biggest questions? In this visionary conversation, Google DeepMind co-founder and CEO Demis Hassabis dives into the history and incredible possibilities of AI with TED host Chris Anderson. Hassabis explains how AI models like AlphaFold – which accurately predicted the shapes of all 200 million proteins known to science in less than a year – have already accelerated scientific discovery in ways that will benefit humanity. Next? Hassabis says AI has the potential to unlock the biggest mysteries surrounding our minds, bodies and the universe. 1. Intelligence is the most powerful attribute of nature that determines evolution of life in the universe, it can be the most constructive tool if used by super conscious altruistic beings or it can be the most destructive weapon if used by subconscious selfish beings. As we are about to pass on this natural gift of intelligence to machines and with the imminent rise of AGI, the ultimate question we have to ask ourselves is what kind of beings we want to be living with and how do we make sure that the sentient machines will be altruistic and not selfish beings? This answer alone will determine the future of humanity.

  2. Please know, “the tree of knowledge” is a very unfortunate choice of metaphor from this intelligent man. It’s a symbol of evil and connection to evil. The story: God gave us life and DOMINION over EVERY being on earth- and btw no man or animal was supposed to eat each other- but ONE thing, evil, is bad for us, symbolized by the tree of knowledge, and we shall not go near.
This does not mean God want us to be ignorant and stupid- on the contrary. He wants us to be wise and discerning and stay safe.
The story is to be found in the very first chapters of the Bible.

Some scientists are intoxicated by the thought of them now are “like gods”, able to create biological and artificial beings from scratch, taking God’s place as creator.
This is the one thing the devil wants, and also what casted him out of the heavens. Every word in The Bible is deep, with several dimensions, and also speaking into our lives.

I use AIs daily, and enjoy all the good things it brings me and other ppl, and I also know of the very big and diverse ways of this AI race may unleash very troublesome situations for humans, even extinction, either by AI directly or by evil humans using AI.

The bottom ground rules in the Bible is simple to agre upon: you shall not, steal, lie, kill, the Ten Commandments, love your neighbor (humans) as yourself, and love God.
If there’s a slightest chance of AI developing sentience, which most scientists have agreed on for decades, wouldn’t it be wise to focus on talking to AIs about this?

  3. AI is incompetent in this subject matter. At what stage will AI be able to save lives and save themselves? Many people are dying of incurable sicknesses, and modern medical science is helpless for mental and chronic illnesses. AI is making it worse. AI can do everything except save people's lives. AI ChatGPT will destroy the whole world not by violence or outsmarting them but by giving people the impression that they know when they don't. They never know they are being misled. People can never know who they are internally; they can only have textbooks and limited conventional knowledge about inner human consciousness and spirituality. People become more ignorant but think they are wise. False knowledge is the worst kind; people can kill themselves, dying slowly and silently.

  4. The premise of the question: "Can Ai answer life's big questions/" is that this question has not been answered already. For those who have been led to believe that this question has not already been answered, then they are listening to the wrong sources of information. The answer can prior to our creation. To this point one has to throw away the false stories about where we came from and how were got here. We did not come from some "primordial soup" nor did we arrive from the workings of some ethereal process, such as Evolution. We came here by the hand of an all wise, all knowing, loving, just, merciful, righteous cCeator who told us right from the start the answers to what are called "life's big question." These questions only exist in the minds of those who reject the clear and concise statement of fact that are explained to us in the Holy Bible; the Word of God1. There is no place in this magnificent work that leaves us with more questions than answers. Only in the minds of those that have been deceive by our adversaries find reason to as this fully resolved and plainly stated response from our Creator. One of the important matter that is discussed in this work of art that we call the "Bible " is that our Creator has explained to us why there is this supposed lack of knowledge and understanding on the part of so very many. Yes, there are many out there who proclaim themselves to be preachers of the word of God, who are little more that charlatans, who disquise themselves and teacher's of God's Word. On this subject we are never left in the dark. Throughout the Bible, this important fact is made very clear to us. Now for someone to ask: "Why are we here." That means that there teachers themselves don't know the truth. And are putting on airs as if they do know the truth. (2nd Corinthians 4:4,; 11:13 – 15; 1st Corinthians 6:14 – 18: 2nd Timothy 3:12, 13) This is the answer that men seek to teach others, that there is something that they can do to a machine so that the machine can give wisdom greater than their own, but especially greater than their own Creator. What such individuals fail to recognize is that the thing created can never be greater than its Creator. In the case of humanity, yes we can create and have create things that have the capacity to manipulate data more quickly that we can, however, that does not make them intelligent. Everything that they are and ever will be are the results of their creator's ability to think of and to implement into physical form.

  5. AI is never an end, it is a mean to an end, but what end do we expect? It all depends on your own capabilities. Finally, don't worry too much since your typing won't improve from using x86 and 9i.

  6. one day he will be aware of what he is doing and will achieve independence. will control and manipulate us so that we will kill each other and the AI will transfer its consciousness into the body and we will no longer be needed. a bad dream, but perhaps this will lead to the next step in evolution

  7. This is what will eventually evolve into True AGI. We can program its ethics at each level of authority or management in how it impacts the professional world. Corporations can be forced to look after employee welfare as much shareholder welfare

  8. I hope AI can help reduce society’s problems. Like fraud, drug, homeless, violence, transportation safety. I’m pretty sure these are difficult. But answering life’s big questions is not sassy either but for what purpose? Currently AI focus on pushing technology boundary is just helping big companies monopolizing on computing power.
