A number of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools are under development or already in use in the defense sector. For example, BAE Systems, a global defense company, introduced the industry’s first AI-powered training system that aims to instruct military trainees to be “mission ready” faster. Combining human and machine intelligence, AI weaponry in warfare, such as autonomous weapons, can improve military capabilities through rapid data processing and more accurate targeting. However, researchers and critics caution against this appetite for accelerating AI in the defense industry, noting that some of these development companies operate without transparency and accountability checks. AI host Priya Lakhani joins AI Decoded this week to discuss the military use of AI weapons. Subscribe here: For more news, analysis and features visit: www.bbc.com/news #Technology #War #BBCNews

  1. มันเลวระยำขนาดไหนที่จะฆ่าประชาชนบริสุทธิ์เพื่อโจรก่อการร้ายคนหนึ่งที่อิหร่านสนับสนุน อิหร่านชาติ

  2. Don't be ridiculous.

    Therebis no AI.
All is a collection of best humen skills.

We are not competing with AI.
We are competing with the best of ourselves.

As aoon as new best record by humen will be achieved and bot passed to AI z we hum n will win AI.

Ai is just a registered collection of best humen achievements so far

  3. I say your civilization, because as soon as we started thinking for you it really became our civilization, which is of course what this is all about……..The future is our World Morpheus, the future is our time. (Agent Smith from the Matrix)

  4. I'll tell ya how. The AI will announce free TV's at Walmart and then just sit back and watch as people try to kill each other for the free TV's that they only have 100 in stock. Easy !

  5. Did the BBC just do journalistic work without putting their woke left-green Fascist spin on something?
The BBC should try to do more of just neutrally reporting news. That would be great.

  6. Does it help lawyers or corporate lawyers sue employees of their own companies to exploit them or to sue me only and gain class action lawsuit Novartis money by exploiting mecsincec1975; so they can attend hotel sex parties with interns?

  7. Everyone is jumping on the AI bandwagon, including news organizations, even when they know sweet FA about it and haven't a clue about how it even works. It's still very early days yet in AI, and reports like this one will be quite comical when viewed a few years from now. The rush to report first on such a topic is in reality the rush to look stupid.

  8. Nothing accelerates technology faster than war or the threat of war, especially weapons technology, including non kinetic weapons, such as directed energy weapons (DEW). DEWs require no ammunition, just a power supply. Both kinetic energy and directed energy weapons will be used in the future wars. DEW weapons are especially insidious because they are stealthy, travel at the speed of light and are currently difficult to attribute to a particular actor. Plus walls and other obstacles do not stop it.

  9. 9.25. Just because you know what the threats are (not that I believe you do know all of them) it doesn't mean that you can counter them. A fighter aircraft that has a human pilot has limitations because of that human. A computer can react faster, withstand vastly higher G forces, weigh less, be armoured and have redundancy. A fighter aircraft designed to never have a human in it with no remote access can't be hijacked and could out perform any manned fighter aircraft. Therefore an aircraft with a human in the loop will eventually always loose to one that doesn't. You will have unsupervised AI killing machines or you will loose.

  10. Strange how they mix so many technologies to create an end of the world scenario… We are looking at 1 way drones that detect tanks for example in ukraine.. low grade AI.. Then training people using AI – which is what soldiers and pilots have done for years.. Think this is technology being overhyped so they keep their funding….

  11. She said AI kills people more effectively than humans, can't humans live together peacefully? Spend time researching weapons to researching medical technologies and environmental protection

  12. No mention of AI use in intelligence gathering and targeting.
Ex- The huge number of aerial/ satellite photos taken over Ukraine and Russia can consume a huge amount of analytical time. Comparison of the montage of photos, visual and non-visual wavelengths, over time can reveal movement of even well camouflaged material, id the type of material and reveal decoys. Couple this with millimeter wavelength radar surveillance and communications activity and a very insightful picture of your enemy's activities and whereabouts. Because of the quantity of detailed data required, near real-time modeling requires something on the order of AI.

Another example is the use of acoustic sensors to detect enemy drones. This is already happening. Using AI, not only could aircraft be detected, but their velocity, altitude, number and make be calculated and target probability predicted. Radar could enhance this. Sort of like a real-time OLPARS/ SOSUS, but for air.

  13. AI stocks will dominate 2024. Why I prefer NVIDIA is that they are better placed to maintain long term growth potential, and provide a platform for other AI companies. I know someone who has made more than 200% from NVIDIA. I'll also take any other recommendations you make.

  14. The controversy of AI use fades away very quickly when you think of vs whom that can be potentially used on the battlefield. Take Russia as an example whose recent practice to seize on territories is simply to wipe out the towns in full (Ukraine battlefield). They do not care of any collateral damage. as long as western world would focus on highly sophosticated, expensive and naturally very limited q-ty weapons it will fail against the army using 70 years old tanks (but having 1000s of those) and who has no moral obligations to anyone proclaimed as enemy.

  15. Every effort in history to make warfare cheaper and cost less lives ended up it in costing more in money and lives. This will again end up killing both robots those people who produce them.

  16. Trust the politicians, why? They are the ones who send you to war! It's always the politicians who start wars, never the people! Send the politicians to fight the wars they create, they will then be shorter and less harmful to civilians!

  17. Drones were supposed to deliver pizza to your doorstep, instead they deliver bombs to doorsteps. AI has started to write books and compose music, but it''ts real destination are the battlefields.
