  1. So if they can just download and analyse all of those videos for AI learning purposes, surely I can download and analyse all of their movies and TV series for AI learning purposes.

  2. rather than go after these "pirates" some actual law enforcement should pay visit at the actual CRIMINALS of these cases.
which is those A-holes at Germany called Texcipio.
those A-holes have worse accuracy than Russian Soviet era bombers at night, on a foggy day, with broken radar and blind pilots.

  3. "non-profit" is such a great word-salad: people think it means it is a company that just does a bit of work and nobody is in for the profit when it couldn't be much further from the truth:
It means that there is no profit that belongs to the company and that any profit gained must be attributed to whatever the cause of the organisation is. They also are eligible for tax-deductions or even exemptions and donations to them can often also be deduced. And very often most of the work is done by volunteers for no compensation or just the tiniest amount like food and fuel-costs.
Sounds good so far you say? Yeah then you did not notice what i did not mention: there is no regulation on the salaries of the managers or other involved. Your non-profit just so happened to hire your spouse as a consultant at rate of 5000$/hour for a 2 week meeting at the Bahamas. Yes, those are example of court-cases where the NPO won cause all that is still "non-profit".
Reputable organisations will use over 70%, often even 90%, for the cause their cause. For others the "management" costs can be over half of their total income.

It is a great way to not be held accountable.

  4. The most common use for that transcript database is unfortunately to create copies of the original clips the transcripts originate from, and put one of the usual four AI voices on them. Every time you block one of those video sources, a thousand new ones are created. The wonders of the TikTok age. By the end of the year, these AI clones will be spamming clones of the clone clones. None of the big platforms cares, because the revenue stream from the TikTok format just keeps accelerating by itself.

  5. if you want to host then host. when the cameras are not pointed at you, you were not given a microphone and you have to yell to get your voice picked up, maybe that should be enough to indicate what lane you're supposed to stay in..

on second thought, nevermind. I probably didn't get the memo that recording devices are now a "social construct"

  6. So I waited all day to "get the real scoop" for what went on with Crowdstrike and silence from my one reliable source Techlinked. Unless the Linus group uses Crowdstrike, then you all might still be trying to get your bitlock numbers to unlock your computers.

  7. To be fair these YouTubers make money by talking about the companies so if the companies then use them they make changes that YouTubers do videos on make money

  8. the last story was beyond wild… and there's some STIs that are just inside your body like everyone else. like HPV and if you take the vaccines your good. but Jesus! that's a very serious invesion of your private parts… imagine if the AI decides to release this info publicly and inaccurate? a terror night

  9. 2:42
I mean what else are kids supposed to do now, stare at a wall?
    Binge watch stuff?

Even in my daily life I have multiple hours where I have nothing else to do.

  10. Training on public and freely available transcripts seems to be perfectly Fair Use, as I see it. What are people so concerned about? I think this focus is a distraction from bigger issues with AI.
One way or the other, AI is going to learn these things, no matter what data they use, models will converge on the same abilities and model of our world. And AI IS eventually going to out compete most workers! We cannot stop it, and slowing it down just delays the inevitable adaptations we must make to our economy.
The real issue is, most people still haven't realized the full implications AI will have on our economy and society, and aren't making the right demands of policymakers yet.. By the end of THIS decade, the VAST majority of human workers won't be able to compete for an income! Our current system uses human labor to distribute resources and determine who survives, that will no longer be possible. We must begin setting up transitional policies, that will keep our society functional. Ideas like a UBI, or even better, an AI Dividend for All, to ensure everyone gets a return on their data investment that trains AI.
