  1. The way I see it is that it allows people who aren't talented in the art of music to express themselves without requiring years of practice, or risk sounding like there is a lack of skill. However, speaking from personal experience, a simple prompt isn't enough to make it acceptable. I tried that with my first song and it came out underwhelming, so I put more effort into the lyrics, manipulating the vocals and instruments, and a lot of regenerating to make better sounding songs.

People will always be better though. They can host concerts and participate in promotions, but at least I can make the music I want without being limited to talent or finances.

  2. I definitely don't think AI music is a good thing whatsoever as the problem with AI music is that it would be run by a corporation and like any corporation they don't like taking risks whatsoever so they will use this technology to produce generic sounding music in as quick and easy of a way as possible without any diversity in terms of sound for the music being made as truth be told taking risks can cost them money so they will make sure the music has an exact particular sound so they know that they will at least get a certain amount of money guaranteed, so truth if you are someone who is tired of hearing music on the radio that sounds the same, than AI music will just make things alot worse so in short AI music is a horrible idea.

  3. I'd hope that at least a big percentage of humankind will still value the human element and real musicians. However, beyond that, the disgusting part is that they are training their generative AIs on copyrighted material and then profiting from it without paying… anything. Or crediting anybody.

Non-generative AI and generative AI are not the same at all. Generative AI does not "learn" much of anything, it just uses things humans have created to "predict" what to do next. It's not even actively pulling from a database or anything. And it's not inherently creative in any way. True non-generative AI might, one day, actually make music like humans do, and I don't know what that will mean for the music industry, but generative AI right now is copying in predictable patterns. Human musicians can take inspiration from what they know, and use music theory and known genre conventions to actually even break those conventions, make new stuff, start new genres, bend the rules, etc.

I don't really think that a human being inspired from existing music and a generative AI being trained on copyrighted material without clear consent are quite the same. Artificial general intelligence, if it ever happens, would likely make music in a similar way that humans do. And that'll be a different story.

  4. The problem with AI is not whether it is good or not. The fundamental difference between AI and the human brain is that the brain has a conscience that can determine everything that an AI does not have! A human brain thinks, an AI does not think! It only helps you think, which will eventually lead in the medium term to a human thought determined by the help of an AI and which will end up harming man and will inexorably lead to his intellectual downfall! And if you do not understand the sentence that I have just written then it is already too late for you! AI is a good thing if and only if it is used for good purposes. Is this the case in our society and the modern era in which we live? Certainly not!

Now let's come to the composers and instrumentalists if you will.

Wou…dam it's great I will be able to create a piece of music, a complete song that I never really wanted to create! Because AI will do it for me! So I give him the A, the D, the B, and he lays me a song! Is that what you want? Sorry buddy NOT ME!

  5. I like your points but there are literally AI artist like TWXN that has perfectly replicated playboi carti and Travis Scott and that AI artist has 3 million monthly listeners which is more than an artist signed to playboi carti has, this is clearly a rise in AI it pisses me off

  6. I see two problems with AI. 1. You are a gifted musician and come up with a wonderful, unique song and within seconds it's sucked up into an Ai engine. and 2. You lost the ability to protect the copyright to your work, without wanting to hire attorneys.

I don't think AI will replace human artists but will dilute their contributions.

If I were an artist, then I would focus on the human interactions to promote my craft.

  7. I think you don't understand the seriousness of this. Its not that the AI music is good that is a problem. It's that:
    1. They will flood (and already is flooding) the internet and make it harder to find real artist's work
    2. Even the ones who seek authenticity in music will have hard time distinguishing which is AI or not, thus creating trust issue that now Artists have to deal with.
    3. All the big music tech companies and record labels will make their own version of AI in an effort to not pay the artists, which will undermine their way to live.

  8. Why are we automating activities of human expression and enjoyment, rather than those of labor? And if we automated labor, would the ruling class allow the rest of us to still enjoy such activities???

  9. Not sounding human enough to a pro musican doesnt matter as much as what the average person likes. Look at autotune for example. Cher make an absolute crap sounding song and it went gold because the average person liked it.

  10. I don't think anyone was worried about the artistic pursuit being destroyed by ai, it was the ability to make a living off music that will now no longer be an option for most.
